To our MAX Agency Partners in Arizona, You spoke and we listened! As we further refine our efforts to meet the needs of the Arizona insurance marketplace, we made the following changes to our underwriting guidelines on roofs: For Asphalt and Architectural shingled roofs, we are extending replacement cost to roofs that are up to 19 years old. At 20 years of age, we will apply the Actual Cash Value Roof Surfacing endorsement to the policy. For Metal, Tile and Slate roofs, we are moving the requirement to allow for replacement cost up to 30 years. So a metal, slate or tile roof at 29 years of age will still be allowed full replacement cost. At 30 years of age, we will apply the Actual Cash Value Roof Surfacing endorsement to the policy. An exception exists here for tile roofs that have had the underlayment replaced and tiles reinstalled within the last 30 years. Of course, the above criteria are contingent on the roof being in overall good condition regardless of its age and our Underwriters do have override authority if unique circumstances arise. We appreciate and value your input and look forward to growing with your agency in the future.
