To our MAX Agency Partners in Virginia: Tropical Storm Isaias is now located off the east coast of Northern Florida currently with sustained winds of 70 mph with higher gusts. The storm is expected to increase to a Category 1 hurricane just before making landfall in the Carolinas and then move up the east coast as a tropical storm and then tropical depression. The track of the storm is still uncertain, but it is likely to have impacts to portions of the east coast, including the Carolinas and the southeast corner of Virginia. Due to the expected approach of the storm to the coastal regions of Virginia, MAX is implementing a moratorium on all new business and requests to increase coverage on existing business effective immediately. The binding authority for business located in the following areas of coastal Virginia is suspended until further notice: The moratorium is in place for risks located up to 100 miles inland which would include the following independent cities and counties. Cities: Chesapeake, Hampton, Hopewell, Newport News, Norfolk, Petersburg, Poquoson, Portsmouth, Richmond, Suffolk, Virginia Beach, and Williamsburg. Counties: Accomack, Caroline, Charles City, Essex, Gloucester, Hanover, Henrico, Isle of Wright, James City, King and Queen, King George, King William, Lancaster, Mathews, Middlesex, New Kent, Northampton, Northumberland, Prince George, Richmond, Southampton, Surry, Sussex, Westmoreland, and York. We are monitoring the progress of Tropical Storm Isaias closely and will advise you when you can resume binding coverage on new and existing business with MAX. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter. If you have any questions, please contact your MAX underwriter.
